When my copy of Columns arrived in the mail, I was excited to see the cover picture of a former classmate holding his daughter and laughing. The joy on their faces in the photo was a vibrant expression of the celebration of her life—a life once threatened by cancer. Curious to know what story they were featured in, I flipped the pages and learned about Magic Hour Foundation. The more I read, the more my heart lit up with excitement to learn of this wonderful organization, and I thought, I’ve got to tell people about this!
Magic Hour Foundation’s “About” page explains: “[Magic Hour Foundation] is a national network of professional photographers who want to serve the individuals and families who are fighting cancer by providing them with the ability to celebrate the truly important things in life through photography. These charitable portrait sessions will provide an opportunity to be normal—just relax, smile and have fun with loved ones. Above all, [Magic Hour Foundation] will strive to express compassion and love as we support them and pray for God’s grace in their lives, no matter the outcome of their battle.”
Through their website, photographers can join the network to donate services, families and friends can nominate a photo session recipient, and people like me—who love family and photography—can make donations to fund their expressive and treasured work.
